Melbourne 360 Day & Night
These are scenes from the 55th floor of the second tallest building in Melbourne. I didn't want to go to the tallest because it had an 'extension' with a glass floor that they push out from the building that you could look down -- not for me!
It is a very beautiful city from any angle, but especially when you look towards the ocean!!
We could also see our hotel through a narrow gap between buildings!
At 11:00 am there were very few people, but when we went back up at dusk, it was filled with young Japanese tourists.

CRAFT EXPO – Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Oct. 8, 2009
I happened to notice an ad on TV advertising a Craft Expo, so I happily went. The day went very quickly and it was mostly vendors selling items. These quilts were INCREDIBLE!! But they had mini-demos, Make and Takes (all of which cost money), and seminars through-out the day. It was fun and I learned a lot, and I met a woman whose son (works at Boeing) & daughter-in-law & grandson live in Seattle. She & her husband had a great time in the states and are looking forward to going back!!

Saturday, October 3, John & I travelled to the Royal Melbourne Zoo by tram (I call it a trolley) and had a fun day wandering all over the grounds. John was very patient with me taking pictures of animals & signs (I have trouble remembering what I took a picture of, especially when the animal is well camouflaged)! John was very patient with me taking pictures of animals & signs (I have trouble remembering what I took a picture of, especially when the animal is well camouflaged)! Considering how much I love zoos, this one on the
whole was well planned and most of the animals had nicely laid out enclosures and changeable features so they have some variety and lessens their boredom. I was disappointed because they didn’t have very many of the roos, wallabies, koala, etc. But that will give me something to look for in the wild! No worries!
Some of the highlights were: the lemurs in a small family group and were very entertaining in their antics with each other. The zoo had paintings that the elephants had done, which were as good as any the kids did when they were two – three yr. olds. ;-) The bird enclosure was extremely well done since they had several habitats inside with many species of birds, some of which we heard, but never saw. I saw kids using a stick to move small balls through an interchangeable plastic maze that the Orangutan’s had used from the other side! The Meerkats were the cutest! Yes, I do get excited by zoos.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and can actually see the animals in the pictures!
